About the Foundation

The SHRM Foundation was founded in 1966 as a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors from the HR profession, including academics, practitioners and representatives from SHRM. The Foundation funds research, publications and education to advance the HR profession and enhance the effectiveness of HR professionals. To support its important work, the SHRM Foundation conducts an annual fundraising campaign. All contributions to the Foundation are tax-deductible.

New for 2017

The SHRM Foundation has a new website! Complete with new navigation, page layouts and more to help you create inclusive organizations where employees thrive and organizations achieve success!

In addition, we have adopted a new strategy with a new mission, vision and purpose. As part of this strategy, in 2017, we will work on two initiatives: Preparing for the Aging Workforce and Integrating and Engaging Military Veterans in the Workforce. And, we will award more than 300 scholarships in 2017 – our highest amount yet!

How to Become a Chapter Champion

The SHRM Foundation’s Champions Program recognizes exceptional chapters and state councils for their commitment, leadership and generous support to the SHRM Foundation.

2017 Requirements:

The basic checklist

Time may be short, so this basic checklist is everything your chapter/council should complete to become a SHRM Foundation Champion and qualify as an Aging Workforce Partner.

Designate a SHRM Foundation Chair or Director to lead your chapter or council Foundation activities.

Share with your members about the SHRM Foundation and present the 10 minute PowerPoint presentation about the current inclusion initiative: employing the aging workforce.

Ask your members, and strongly encourage your board members, to join Team Empower by making a donation of $30 or more to the SHRM Foundation and pledging to support our inclusion initiative.

Host a fundraising event to benefit the SHRM Foundation.

Make a donation from chapter or council funds to the SHRM Foundation by December 31.

When completing the SHAPE workbook, include your chapter's/council's work to support the SHRM Foundation (see section 2, #5 on page 8 in the https://www.shrm.org/_layouts/15/images/icpdf.pngSHAPE Chapter Workbook or see section 2, #6 on page 7 in the https://www.shrm.org/_layouts/15/images/icpdf.pngSHAPE Council Workbook).
